I wanted this particular painting to have a softer look, like its under a soft-glow filter. Armed with my glazing medium and a blue and white underpainting, I shaped this nebula into something reminiscent of a mountain. The glow came from my discovery that what I needed for soft blends wasn't to add more water to my paint, but less. After laying down my colors, I dry-brushed many thin layers of tinted white paint around the areas I wanted to glow.
